HEY EVERYONE!
Oh my how i love serving here in Mo I Rana already its so cool here! it took we a while to get here but i am here andi have a ton of experiances to tell you about already! i am loving serving with someone who i am at the same level at and who i get a long with so so well! since he was in the MTC with me we knew each other very well and we always would excersize together and what not and loved telling jokes to each other and just laughing! i am so thankful for the oppurtunity ihave to serve up in the north its not very many missionaries that get to go up to the north and its a place which is very dark during the winter and usually will go about 80 days with out the sun so i am already with out the sun for about6 days now so thats actually quite exciting its not like there is not sun you just cant see it! we live infront of a huge mountion or a huge hill that has a ski resort on it and it makes me sad to look at it but its ok:) well like i said its awesome here and i love the dialect it sounds so cool but its really hard to understand sometimes its not what i am used to they speak in a wholedifferent tone and fall and with a lot of different words but i am only understanding more and more everyday:) The people here are just awesome but at the same time they just tell it to your face and say to leave haha its quite funny when they get pushy right when they open the door and tell you not to come back and get off the land fast! meaning go back to america!
well to start off for me to get here i have to fly to trondheim which is only like 50 minutes from oslo and then from there i take a tiny little 30 person plane to Mo I Rana....but i got my flight cancelled so i was in the airport along not even knowing where to go but i finally found someone who asked me actually if iwas waiting for the flight to there and she explained what was going on and that i would be waiting for about 3 1`2 hours! so i read and cought up on some studies since i was up at 3 am to get everything ready since we were out a little late saying good bye to investigators and other things plus we were in oslo most of tuesday getting our new car for Moss so packing just didnt happen plus still meeting with people to teach and everything so it was a super hecktic day! but i got through it i got to Mo and everything worked out! so Mo is located on the tip of a fjord and its quite pretty when you receive 2 1/2 feet of snow in about a day! the first day i got here it snowed over a foot! then we went out the next day and there is another foot of snow and just got about 3 inches aday since then so there is snow everywhere here while there is still non in MOSS! crazy to thing about that but its not to much colder here all though it was about -15 the otherday so it was quite cold! from what i have heard no one likes living here? i dont know why but they will say oh yea moss is terrible place to live...but not as bad as Here! its kinda funny i actually like it a lot here and to see Fjords in almost every direction i finally feel like i am in Norway! especially with all the snow! yesterday we got like 5 inches of snow and then it rained so we had four inches of slush on the ground and i was just soaking wet from my knees down! my jakket kept me quite warm though so thank you to that jakket!!
To explain our appartment.....well its kinda cold....we live on the bottom floor and then we live in the attic as well! we sleep upstairs and the windows dont close all the way upstairs so its quite cold upstairs usually it will be about 10c up stairs so we have a heater at night we use so we can stay warm! its smells bad upstairs because the toilet doesnt work so we pee in bottles since the toilet is all the way down three flights of stairs so it kinda of cold and in the middle of the night its to far and the cellings are super low on the way down and i have hit my head contless times already:) i still have had no time to unpack so thats fun i am still living out of a suitcase:) but how greatfull i am to have a house....so a little story we live with a member who lives on the main floor and then another guy lives on the second floor and the lady lives at a hospital along with the rest of the members in MO! so we left the house to do some contacting and i realized....great i forgot the keys and so we went back for lunch and the door was locked and didnt have anyway to get in the house and i left the church key inside as well.... so we went and bought lunch in the mall and then went and taught someone and then contacted and didnt eat dinner since we couldnt go in and we didnt want to spend more on food we already had! we called totry to get the guy who lives with us number called alot of people finally got it and no answer! so we were outside alday in way cold weather contacting hungry and trying figure what to do since we had maps inside of where where we needed to knock and places that were already done and so it was late we tried breaking in and no luck... a member came and let us in his car and finally after praying all day the guy called back and said he was on his way home! almost had to sleep outside? haha but that was a long day and guess what day that was....the 13th...Friday the 13th even on a mission bad luck is real!
another great experiance this week is that we decided to go to a place by bus to give a lady a book of mormon and little did we know what we were getting into...got dropped off in the middle of a ski resort (dont worrie got pictures of the ski resort:) we walked said a prayer...took a turn said another prayer turned down another street asked someone they didnt know where the street name was oh yea by the way we only had the street name and the area or the city it was in...so we said a prayer turned down another street and asked a guy he didnt know but pulled out his phone and told us how to get there! fell in a 3 foot bank of snow on our way...that was cold! took a wrong way which ended up being a short cut and got to this ladies house by pure prayer alone! gave it to here and we will go back next week:) keep in mind we had only an hour to do all this before the bus came back... so we rushed all the way up to the ski resort and waited for an hour no bus came!! said a prayer and went to the ski resort to eat something (no not part of the prayer but we were hungry:) then came back said a prayer so the bus would come...theres the bus...said another prayer since our ticket expired an hour ago! the lady said no and we said ohhhh....and looked down and looked up and she said ok here you go:) super lucky!! then went home:) i have never had so many experiances of loving prayer more in my life! this week has truly been inspirred and i thank the lord so much foor all he has done for me!!
yes i still have a challenge for you and its to ask you how often do you pray? do you pray before you do something? try praying for oneday before you do anything and it truly will help your day go so much better as ihave realized in only such a short amount of time its just one incredible way we have in our lifes!! i am so thankful for all my challenges and i thank the lord and ask for challenges so i can grow! i hope everyone is dont well and i miss and love you! stay warm in utah...oh wait its still warm with no snow....hahah LOVE YOU!!
OH yea i forgot one major thing CHURCH!!! so we invited people to church and our to main investigators who are awesome by the way were with family out of town so we also plan the lessons and are the teachers and we also provide the music and the talks and we conduct the meetings so im like a bishop basically along with my companion! so people in chuch this week....Me, Elder johnson and 30 minutes late another man! we bless the sacrement and passed it out and we gave a talk both of us and then closed church.... its about an hour 1/2 long so thats kinda nice and im involved the whole time:) so three in church thats one better than last week:)
